Rehabilitation
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy focuses on an individual's ability to communicate and assists people who have difficulty speaking or swallowing.
At Culpeper Regional Health System, our speech therapists work with children and adults. We even provide speech therapy for toddlers.
Speech and Language Problems We Treat
Our speech therapists work with clients and their families to treat the following:
Voice problems:
- Poor quality of sound.
- Little or no voice.
Speech impediments:
- Articulation (specific sounds pronounced incorrectly or inappropriately).
- Stuttering.
Language development issues:
- Listening or understanding difficulties.
- Inability to use correct words, grammar, or sentence structure.
- Delayed speech in toddlers and young children.
Swallowing trouble:
- Difficulty learning to swallow in infants and toddlers. Adult swallowing problems (using VitalStim Therapy).
Speech Therapy for Toddlers
Every child develops at his or her own pace. However, if you think your toddler may have a speech disorder, an evaluation may help. Finding and treating any problems early on will help your child have success with reading, writing and schoolwork later.
Our speech-language pathologists are trained to help toddlers who have trouble with articulation (saying speech sounds), voice, stuttering, language, listening or swallowing.
