Rehabilitation
Physical Therapy
Whether you have back pain or are recovering from a stroke or other illness that impaired your ability to move, physical therapy can help.
At Culpeper Regional Health System, our physical therapists use a combination of exercise, manual therapy, and modalities to improve strength, balance, and flexibility. They work to preserve and restore each patient's maximum functional level and promote healing.
Common Reasons for Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists can help with a wide range of conditions and movement issues. We regularly see patients for the following concerns:
- Back pain. Physical therapy for back pain can help ease symptoms and restore function.
- Gross motor skill development for problems in children.
- Lymphedema, which may be caused by cancer or cancer treatment.
- Neurologic injury or disease. Physical therapy can help with stroke recovery. It can also be used to help treat multiple sclerosis, brain injury, Parkinson's disease, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, autism, or balance dysfunction.
- Orthopedic injury or disease. Physical therapy can be used to help with recovery from bone fractures, sports injuries and back injuries caused by trauma or an accident.
- Postsurgical rehabilitation.
- Urinary incontinence in women.
- Wound management. Physical therapy can be used to treat a wide range of wounds, from burns and trauma wounds to diabetic wounds and vascular ulcers.
